The word “gynecology” comes from the Greek word “gyne” – a woman and “logos” – a word, teaching. That is, gynecology is the science of a woman, of her health. This science examines the diseases of a woman’s genitals in different periods of her life – from sexual maturation, the period of menstrual function to climax.
Gynecology primarily examines the types of diseases in women, such as inflammatory diseases of the pelvic organs, cervical erosion, polyps, uterine fibroids, endometriosis, and others, the oldest science directly related to human prolongation.
Recent advances in gynecology now allow for even more successful care of a woman’s health than before.
Possible methods in gynecology include hirudotherapy (traditional treatment with medical leeches).
